At Datura – Climate & Company Data Services, we combine deep domain knowledge, technical backgrounds and decades of experience to provide state of the art, data-driven solutions. We believe that reasonable regulation is required to drive action in the industry – but that actionable data products are a necessity to really make it work in practice.

Founding team

As a founding team we are united in our practical idealism. We believe Datura most effectively serves our planet by empowering decision makers with the best tools to fulfil their mandate while safeguarding nature. To achieve this we leverage our broad expertise spanning sustainable finance, AI, econometrics, and regulation.

Co-founder

Ingmar Juergens

Ingmar is a pioneer in carbon finance and a leading expert in climate economics and sustainable finance, with a career spanning over two decades. He has held senior roles at the OECD, UN, and EU Commission, contributing to key climate policy and finance initiatives across adaptation, mitigation, and economic modelling. Ingmar has served in advisory roles for Germany’s Sustainable Finance Advisory Committee, the EU Sustainable Finance Platform, and EFRAG’s sustainability reporting standards. He is a co-founder of the Sustainable Finance Research Platform, Climate & Company, and vice chair of Germanwatch. The occasional moments he is not trying to save the planet he can be found enjoying hikes in the (Swedish) countryside.

Tycho Tax

Tycho has years of experience leading technical teams in developing state-of-the art AI solutions ranging from clinical decision-support systems in emergency medicine to predictive models estimating the CO2 impact of the electricity grid. As a researcher at the WRR he has advised the Dutch government on ensuring the ethical implementation of AI. Tycho is committed to leveraging the transformative potential of data and artificial intelligence to benefit society and the natural world—a mission that forms the foundation of Datura. Aside from mathematics, he enjoys singing classical music, playing squash, cooking, and writing poetry.

Malte Hessenius

Malte is an economist by training, with over six years of experience at Climate & Company developing practical, data-driven methodologies for the financial industry. Malte's expertise combines a deep understanding of evolving sustainable finance frameworks and their real-world implementation, making him a key driver of innovative, actionable solutions. In his spare time, Malte can be found working on his handball career (with moderate success) or eating his way through the diverse cuisines of the German capital.

Marc-Philipp Bohnet

Marc-Philipp is a researcher specializing in climate and biodiversity finance, with expertise in econometrics and policy analysis. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, his work uses advanced econometric methods to assess environmental risks and opportunities in financial markets. Marc-Philipp academic rigor and practical insights help empower financial institutions with innovative, data-driven solutions for managing nature-related risks. Outside of work, Marc is a passionate cook and enjoys camping and kayaking.

Analyst

Abylay Abdrakhmanov

Abylay is passionate about applying data analytics in sustainable finance. He has worked in audit, research, and tutoring, using tools like Python and R to analyze complex data. He holds a B.A. in Economics (magna cum laude) from Nazarbayev University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Economics at the University of Bonn. Abylay has received recognition in several international competitions, including a bronze medal at the first International Economics Olympiad.

Dr.Elisabeth Hoch

Elisabeth holds a PhD in Forestry and has over 20 years of international experience as a researcher, project manager for GIZ and senior advisor for KfW, OECD, ADB and Climate & Company. Her expertise spans local development, international cooperation, biodiversity, forest governance, deforestation-free supply chains and sustainable finance.

Jürgen Kern

Jürgen has over 20 years of experience in financing and strategy, has held key roles in energy, mobility, and biodiversity financing in Germany and Brazil, and has led energy portfolios across Southeast Europe and Turkey. He holds a degree in International Economics and is an alumnus of INSEAD and the German Development Institute.

Dr.Christof Welker

Christof is COO of Climate & Company and brings over twenty years of experience advising financial institutions on strategy development, digitisation, and transformation management. As a former consultant and partner in leading management consultancies, he has deep expertise in navigating complex organisational challenges. He holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Economics.

Prof.Dr.Christian Möller

With over 20 years of experience, Christian specialises in business taxation, M&A, and accounting issues. He holds a doctorate in law and an LLM in Taxation. He is a professor of business and tax law at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and tax advisor with Raschke von Knobelsdorff Heiser, a Hamburg law boutique specialised in M&A, financings, and corporate law. Prior to these current positions, Christian has worked as a lawyer and judge.

Dr.Kristian Heiser

Kristian is partner at Raschke von Knobelsdorff Heiser (RKH) with over twenty years of experience specialising in corporate law, M&A, private equity/venture capital, banking and capital markets law, and compliance. Recognised as one of Germany’s leading corporate law attorneys by Handelsblatt, Kristian is valued for his strategic insight and expertise in navigating complex legal matters. He holds a PhD in law from the University of Hamburg and an LLM from King’s College London.

David Rusnok

David, co-founder of Climate & Company, gained 20 years of experience at KfW Bankengruppe, where he implemented development projects with private enterprises, financial institutions, and government partners. He has led initiatives in carbon finance, biodiversity, and agricultural development, with a strong focus on Latin America.
